Reception Intake 2024
We look forward to welcoming the children starting school in September. Starting school is an exciting and daunting time for both children and parents.
We understand that some children will find the transition into school a little bit trickier than others and can support you through the process with additional visits into school prior to starting if you feel this is required. Before arranging this, we would ask that as a first step your child visits for the open classroom session with yourself so that your child can visit and begin to get used to the setting whilst allowing the opportunity for an informal discussion about transition.
At the bottom of this page are some key dates, including: parents information evening, visits into school with your children and the date that school starts in September.
In addition to visits into school, the EYFS team will be visiting Nurseries that children currently attend to give opportunity to meet and observe the child in a setting they are familiar with as well as have a chat with key workers. We will also be conducting home visits to meet children and families in an environment that they are comfortable in. These visits are to have a discussion with parents/carers and children, find out what children like and enjoy as well as dislikes so that we can make the start to school as smooth as possible. These will be taking place after May half term and you will be contacted to arrange these at a convenient time.
Our Classroom
Our Reception Classroom was refurbished in 2023. We have an excellent selection of furniture designed to promote independence in children. The classroom is split into several areas and has resources to support development of learning in all 7 areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. In the toilets there are doorbells to allow children to call for support should they need it.

Outside Area
In Reception we go outside no matter the weather! Learning takes place inside and outside, from maths to writing to being creative! This is why it is vital to have a pair of wellies and waterproofs in school - just in case the weather changes!
We are very lucky to have two purpose built outside areas with direct access from the classroom. We also have access to the playground (for using bikes) and trim trail during continuous provision to support development of physical skills.
Have a look at the pictures below to see the areas and some of the activities that take place outside.
