Boccia
Boccia Competition
An amazing team of children took part in a Boccia sports event at Peter Paine Sports Centre (Boston College) on Tuesday 13th January.
The children were sublime from the beginning to the end of the event, competing really well against many other local schools, as well as showing great sportsmanship towards everyone. Massive well done to all involved.
Boccia is a precision sport, similar to bowls, where athletes aim to throw or roll leather balls as close as possible to a white target ball (the jack).Â
Table Tennis Competition
Table Tennis Tournament
A small team of Table tennis players attended Thomas Middlecott to showcase their skills and represent the school. With over 50 players in attendance, we knew it was going to be a difficult afternoon. K was in a group of 5 girls, where it was clear her confidence developed as the games went by, slowly winning by more and more! She topped the group and stormed her way into the finals unbeaten. N faced a tough group with some very skilful looking players. Although he may not have progressed into the finals, it was clearly apparent he had enjoyed the afternoon and played some super shots. G was in a different group but also faced some tricky opponents. However, with splendid serving, rapid rallies and even a super smash he progressed into the final stages unbeaten!  K went onto remain unbeaten until her very last match, unfortunately she was just beaten in the overall girls final 11-6. What an amazing achievement. N went on to play some friendly matches where he continued to play some really good battles. G was up, again against some really tough opponents, continuing with his earlier form, it went down to literally one point. Unfortunately, he ended up not going into the final two due to ‘points difference’, so he settled for 3rd place overall.
Every child showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the whole afternoon, it was noted by other players and staff present.
Massive well done to all.

Year 5/6 Football Tournament
Recently, some Year 5/6 got chosen to represent our school in a football tournament. Despite some really tough opponents the children who represented our school did so while continually showing our 5 R’s. Even though results may not have gone our way, the children simply kept going until the final whistle. Well done to all.
Girls Football Development Day
Girls Football Development Day
On Wednesday 1st October, a group of 10 girls went to Boston United Football Stadium to take part in a football development day. Whilst we were there, the children took part in a multitude of different events and activities to help develop their teamwork and communication skills within football. The children also were given a tour of a match-day stadium where they got to look around the changing rooms and the different areas within the stadium. The changing rooms even had all the kits ready for the evening game. The children loved the experience and enjoyed all the activities and were given the chance to put their skills to the test in some football matches.
Goals a plenty at Netball!
Amazing performance from 7 children who represented our school at a Netball tournament. The children really showed everyone that they have been practicing hard. Goals scored by Katie, Harley, Nevaeh and Krystal, supported by some fantastic defending from Jenson, Flynn and Binaya. The children may have started slowly, but by the end the Goals were flowing. Unfortunately they ended up seconds away from representing the county! Really impressive display by all. Well done to all.
Goalball!
Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for athletes with a vision impairment. Participants compete in teams of three and try to throw a ball with bells embedded inside it into the opponents' goal. The ball is thrown by hand and never kicked.
It was the first time playing for all of us. The girls were amazing and got stuck straight in. It was tricky having to wear a blindfold and being unable to see for a timed period. Sometimes it felt like you had lost knowing where you were. To help with this the girls laid out across the goal and were able to touch each other to know where they were in relation to each other and the goal.
Everyone played each other against teams from other schools. It was very exciting but very quiet as the only sound must be the jingling of the ball.
At the end there was a game adult versus children and the children won! I was super impressed with the girl’s behaviour, attitude and determination. It was a great experience.
All girls really enjoyed taking part in the development day and represented our school beautifully, displaying our school values at all times.

Capture the Castle
Children from Years 4 and 5 represented the school at a Capture the Castle competition, held on Friday 13th September at Kirton Middlecott School. They put in 100% effort and determination. After three hard fought battles, it was clear that we had some amazing attackers and defenders in our side. Our school values were clearly on show as each child put in a faultless display.
